The sun has finally been shining this weekend and today to I’ve been a little over-optimistic and started looking into bralets to wear with a pair of high waisted jeans. The four below that I found in Topshop are amazing and reasonably priced. Plus I’m loving the floral print and the range of styles for both day and night
This season’s all about pastels and if, like me, you’re not quite brave enough to wear them yet, you can test the water with these fab nail varnishes (All £5 from Topshop)
These Topshop Nail Varnishes are fast drying, extra long wear with lasting glossy finish and perfect coverage.
As I said earlier I have Parma Violet (see below). I’ve had to apply 3 coats to get an even finish but I really love the colour and it’s totally brightened up my outfit!
I know I write a lot about Topshop and how amazing it is but I don’t work for them – honest! Perhaps I should though.
Wow this year’s going by so fast, 1st of May already!
This morning I felt like I needed a little colour in my life so this morning I opted for an electric blue oversized jumper from Mango £22.99. Teamed with black super soft Leigh jeans, £40 from Topshop (they really are super soft and super comfy, also available in Tall). And my favourite pair of wedge heels, Lenny, £65 & also from Topshop.
And of course, my new little friend…
They’ve sold out of almost all Lenny wedges but there’s a fab alternative at Dune which you can see here. The image they have used doesn’t really do them justice, they’re also just as lovely!
I’ve known how amazing Topshop is for a long time now but recently one of the worlds most famous girls has discovered just how fab their clothing is.
Yes Rihanna has been spotted in numerous Topshop items recently and here’s just a few:
This dress is gorgeous so I tried to go online and purchase it. This image of her wearing their white shirt dress only hit the press a few hours ago and it’s already sold out in all sizes other than UK 16! The dress was on sale for £38.
She wore this PEACE bralet at Coachella 2012 and it’s now completely sold out! I can’t even find it on Topshop’s website anymore.
And recently she spent a massive 5 hours in their Flagship store on Oxford Street – I thought the 2 hours I spent last week was long!
These are just a few recent pieces that I’ve noticed her wearing but if you google “Rihanna Topshop” there are multiple sites documenting when she wears it and I can tell you, she wears it an awful lot!
Check out this one. The Cleopatra jumper you can see her wearing fast became their best-selling item.
But there’s something I have noticed about that particular jumper, it’s hideous. And most probably wasn’t selling at all until she wore it. If you aren’t British and you’re reading this, please don’t judge this amazing UK fashion brand by THAT jumper.
If you’ve just got a Topshop near you (e.g. if you live in Vegas) I would really recommend you make a visit, and open your mind to the eclectic British style it’s become so iconic for.
I’ve written a few articles before about being tall and the challenges this presents when buying clothes.
Usually if I can’t find anything elsewhere I’ll resort to buying from Long Tall Sally. And this is a very last resort. The reason being is I find it, well… quite boring and sometimes down right dowdy.
Surely there’s a higher population of younger tall girls (whenever I’m in the queue at my local post office, I’m reminded just how gigantic I am next to the older ladies who are collecting their pension etc.) so why are LTS not catering for them?
Here’s a selection of Long Tall Sally clothing:
Yes, that is a denim maxi skirt which, any respectable art teacher over the age of 50 owns and yes that is a maxi cardigan. The print on the skirt is also just so dull. Honestly all their clothes just seem to be about covering up! Tall girls should be proud of their long legs, not being offered a selection of “cover up” options.
Now I’m not saying all girls with long legs should be parading around in hot pants but they definitely should not be wearing denim skirts or maxi cardigans.
Long Tall Sally does have some good points however which are, they seem to be one of the only retailers that recognises Tall is not just over a certain height (usually around 5’8″). They recognise there’s a big difference between someone who is 5’8″ and someone who is 5’11″. If a dress is made for someone who’s 5’8″ it simply will not be long enough for someone who’s 5’11″ so they usually go towards the taller end of the scale so that people who are around 5’8″ can simply adjust the length by taking it up a bit. They also have trousers and jeans in various leg lengths from 34″ to 38″ so I usually buy trousers I plan to wear with heels from them.
I’m not asking for LTS to start stocking the colourful creations currently available at Topshop but I would personally love to see some more modern basics at reasonable prices on their site, just like my recent maxi dress find at Next which you can read about here.
Now, I’m not going to keep up a pretence that I can go onto net-a-porter.com or walk into any Louis Vuitton store and pick up whatever I like the look of, because I can’t. In this day and age when you need at least £20,000 (for any American’s out there that’s about $30,000) just as a deposit on a house that’s not even in central London, I have to watch what I spend.
But every now and again a certain something in a certain store catches my eye and I deliberate with myself about whether or not it’s a good purchase until I finally buy it.
At the moment, it’s this gorgeous Mulberry purse
The Somerset Zip Around has just the right number of card slots along with a removable four card holder and and extra pocket at the front. Of course none of this actually matters, it’s just all the reasons/features I have focussed on in order to justify me buying it.
I went into Selfridges on Oxford Street this weekend just to check it out in the flesh and it was just as amazing, I may reward myself with this purse if I manage to loose a few pounds, but more about that later!
